When it's time to get serious about alfalfa, it's time to get WL.Swather.jpg (60730 bytes) Since 1958, alfalfa has been the only business at WL. By focusing our research efforts solely on alfalfa, we've developed varieties with the highest yield and quality possible. Proven in test after test all across the country, WL varieties are delivering more pounds of milk and beef per acre — as well as more tons of hay. That's our legacy. It's also our future.
WL research focuses on seven areas of quality.
Handseed.jpg (40898 bytes)University studies have shown that WL alfalfa varieties do differ in quality as measured in milk and beef production. WL Research has developed and perfected the highest quality and highest profit alfalfas by focusing on these important areas:
  • Fine stems
  • High leaf-to-stem ratio
  • High Relative Feed Value (RFV)
  • High crude protein
  • High in vitro digestibility (%IVTD)
  • Multiple pest resistance and tolerance to leaf diseases
  • High forage yield potential
This commitment to research has resulted in varieties worthy of the WL name: higher yields, improved pest resistance, greater persistence and higher feed quality than other commercially available varieties. In fact, in university trials WL 325HQ has delivered higher yields and better quality than the number one selling alfalfa in the United States. And we expect even greater things from the newest W-L HQ varieties (e.g. WL 319 HQ).
